Nature Materials Paper on DNA-Directed Nanorod Assembly Published
We are excited to share that our paper “DNA-Directed Three-Dimensional Assembly of Gold Nanorods into Chiral Superstructures with Programmable Optical Activity” has been published in Nature Materials.
Led by postdoctoral researcher Dr. Sara Kim, with contributions from PhD student Luca Ferrari, this work demonstrates that DNA origami scaffolds can precisely position gold nanorods in three-dimensional helical arrangements. The resulting superstructures exhibit strong, tunable circular dichroism in the visible range — a property absent in isolated nanorods.
The work has potential applications in chiral sensing, enantioselective catalysis, and optical information storage.
